The price includes the flight ticket, xxxx airport transfers in Japan, accommodation, programs, a Hungarian-speaking group guide throughout the entire journey, as well as breakfast (and on some days, lunch and dinner).

The participation fee also includes a 12,000 HUF donation, which supports a local Japanese women’s organisation and a women’s advocacy initiative in Hungary.

2 nights in Kyoto: Comfortable Kyoto accommodation, ideally located as a base for exploring the city’s historic districts.

2 nights in Miyama, Kyoto: A village guesthouse offering an authentic rural accommodation experience surrounded by nature.

1 night in Kyoto: Modern and charming accommodation in Kyoto.

1 night in Koyasan: Traditional temple lodging with Buddhist vegetarian cuisine, with full board.

1 night near Kansai Airport: Comfortable accommodation for the final night before departure, with a convenient location.

Day 1 – Departure from Budapest

Day 2 – Arrival in Osaka

  • We arrive at Kansai International Airport, followed by a comfortable journey by public transportation to Namba, one of Osaka’s most vibrant districts. We check into our accommodation, which, thanks to its excellent location, provides the perfect base for exploring the city.
  • The rest of the day is free time: getting familiar with the neighbourhood, strolling through the lively streets, enjoying our first Japanese dinner at a cosy restaurant, or taking an evening walk among the neon lights of Dotonbori. A perfect beginning to an unforgettable Japanese adventure.

Day 3 – Discovering the Vibrant Atmosphere of Osaka

After breakfast, we set out together to explore Osaka, Japan’s vibrant, modern city known for its unique atmosphere and outstanding food culture. The day is designed with flexibility, allowing everyone to enjoy the city’s experiences according to their own interests.

  • We can discover the impressive Osaka Castle, then take a stroll along the Shinsaibashi shopping street, where fashion boutiques, charming cafés, and shops offering local specialties await us. During the day, we can taste Osaka’s famous street food, wander through the lively neighbourhoods, or simply immerse ourselves in the unique atmosphere of everyday Japanese life. This day offers the perfect opportunity to create personal memories while discovering the most exciting sides of the city.

In the evening, we return to our hotel to rest after a day full of experiences and prepare for the adventures ahead.

Day 4 – Traditions and Rural Life in the Village of Asuka

After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and travel by bus to the village of Asuka, one of Japan’s most historically significant settlements. The peaceful rural surroundings provide a perfect opportunity to discover the country’s history and traditions up close.

  • Our first visit takes us to a fascinating ancient stone tomb, one of Japan’s largest and most unique archaeological sites. Afterwards, we enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where we can taste authentic Japanese dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients.
  • In the afternoon, a special hands-on craft experience awaits us: we take part in traditional glassmaking, where, with the guidance of skilled artisans, everyone can create their own unique souvenir.
    One of the highlights of the day is becoming part of everyday life with local Asuka families. Our host families warmly welcome us into their homes, where we can experience Japanese rural life, local customs, and traditions firsthand. The shared activities and conversations offer an unforgettable experience, allowing us to discover a side of Japan that most travellers never have the chance to encounter.

We spend the evening with our host families, including dinner and accommodation.

Day 5 – Nara’s Traditions and Unique Experiences

We begin the day with a shared breakfast at our host families’ homes, then say farewell to those who welcomed us with kindness and gave us a glimpse into the everyday life of rural Japan. Enriched by the experiences we shared together, we leave Asuka behind and continue our journey to Nara, where new discoveries await us.

  • Upon arrival, we have free time to explore the charming old town of Naramachi. Traditional merchant houses, small craft shops, cosy cafés, and quiet streets invite us on a journey back in time, allowing us to experience the unique charm of one of Japan’s oldest cities.
  • In the afternoon, a truly special experience awaits us: we take part in a traditional Japanese perfume-making workshop, where everyone can create their own unique fragrance using natural ingredients. Afterwards, we visit a local sake brewery, where we gain insight into the centuries-old traditions of Japanese rice wine production and discover the secrets behind this traditional craft.

At the end of the day, we check into our accommodation at a traditional ryokan in Nara, where we have the opportunity to experience Japanese hospitality and the unique atmosphere of a traditional Japanese inn.

Day 6 – Nara’s Treasures and a Magical Evening in Kyoto

After breakfast, we still have time to discover some of Nara’s most beautiful attractions. During our free time, we can explore the famous Nara Park, where freely roaming deer have become a symbol of the city, visit the impressive Todai-ji Temple, the atmospheric Kasuga Taisha Shrine, or the Nara National Museum. Those seeking a more relaxed morning can simply get lost in the charm of the historic streets and local cafés.

  • In the afternoon, we continue our journey by public transportation to Kyoto, Japan’s former imperial capital, where we check into our accommodation.
  • The evening offers a truly special experience: we travel by taxi to the historic Gion district, where we attend an authentic geisha and maiko performance. Through traditional dance, music, and performing arts, we gain a deeper appreciation of Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage.

After the performance, we have free time to explore the charming streets of Gion. We can wander among the traditional wooden houses, visit a tea house or a cosy restaurant, and experience the enchanting evening atmosphere of one of Kyoto’s most iconic districts.

Day 7 – Tea Ceremony, Kimono, and the Magic of Kyoto

After breakfast, we explore Kyoto’s historic districts on a guided walking tour, discovering some of the city’s most beautiful landmarks. During our journey, we visit Higashi Hongan-ji Temple, the impressive Sanjūsangen-dō Temple, and one of Kyoto’s most iconic symbols, Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Throughout the walk, we discover the city’s rich history, traditions, and unique atmosphere while wandering through its charming streets.

  • In the afternoon, we immerse ourselves even deeper in Japanese culture. We take part in a traditional tea ceremony, have the opportunity to wear a beautiful kimono, and try our hand at the art of Japanese confectionery making. This experience not only brings us closer to Japan’s centuries-old traditions but also allows us to create something with our own hands and make unforgettable memories.
  • After the activities, we return once again to the Gion district, where free time awaits us. We can explore the atmospheric streets, visit a traditional tea house or a local restaurant, and enjoy the enchanting evening charm of Kyoto.

At the end of the evening, we return to our hotel by public transportation, where we can rest after a day filled with unforgettable experiences.

Day 8 – The Magic of Arashiyama and Discovering Rural Japan

After breakfast, we say goodbye to our Kyoto accommodation and continue our journey by bus towards another special experience.

  • Our first stop is Arashiyama, one of Kyoto’s most beautiful and atmospheric areas, where we enjoy a pleasant walk surrounded by mountains and rivers.
    We can admire the famous Togetsukyo Bridge, explore the charming local shops, or simply enjoy the unique atmosphere of this peaceful, nature-filled district.
  • Afterwards, we continue our journey to Miyama, where we enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before arriving at the picturesque traditional village with its thatched-roof houses. Miyama is considered one of Japan’s most beautiful rural settlements and has been recognised by the UN Tourism organisation as one of its recommended tourism villages. During our walk, we discover the world of traditional thatched-roof houses, gain insight into the local history and culture, and experience the timeless tranquillity of rural Japan.
  • In the afternoon, a special craft activity awaits us: we take part in a herbal tea blending workshop, where we learn about local ingredients and create our own unique tea blend.

At the end of the day, we continue to our accommodation, where we spend the night in one of four traditional Japanese houses. The peaceful countryside, warm hospitality of the locals, and the quiet, nature-filled surroundings reveal a completely different side of Japan — far away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities.

Day 9 – Everyday Life in Rural Japan and Traditional Crafts

We begin the morning with a peaceful breakfast at our countryside accommodation, followed by a special half-day program that allows us to discover the authentic world of Miyama even more closely. In this local setting, we experience the rhythm of rural life, traditional customs, and the tranquil atmosphere that makes Japan’s countryside regions so unique.

  • In the afternoon, we visit a local roadside market, where we can discover regional products, seasonal specialties, and the atmosphere of everyday rural life. Afterwards, we take part in a traditional rice straw rope-making workshop, where we have the opportunity to try this centuries-old craft technique ourselves. Through this activity, we gain insight into Japan’s agricultural heritage and create a unique handmade souvenir to remember the experience.

After the afternoon activities, we return to our accommodation, where we continue to enjoy Miyama’s peaceful surroundings, the closeness of nature, and the warm hospitality of the local people.

Day 10 – Miyama’s Traditions and the Enchanting Paths of Fushimi Inari

After our peaceful days in Miyama, we set off towards new and unforgettable experiences. In the morning, we take part in a traditional thatched roof-making program, where we gain insight into the centuries-old craftsmanship that helps preserve the village’s iconic thatched-roof houses. We can try this unique technique ourselves while learning about the knowledge, skill, and care behind Japan’s traditional architectural heritage.

  • After the program, we enjoy lunch at a charming local restaurant before continuing our journey to Kyoto, where one of Japan’s most famous shrines awaits us.
  • In the afternoon, we explore the breathtaking Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, renowned for its thousands of vibrant red torii gates. As we walk along the pathways winding up the mountainside, we are surrounded by a truly special atmosphere: the peacefulness of nature, the spirit of a traditional Japanese shrine, and the impressive rows of gates come together to create an unforgettable experience.

At the end of the day, we check into our accommodation. Meanwhile, our larger luggage will be conveniently forwarded to our hotel in Osaka, allowing us to enjoy the following days with greater ease and comfort.

Day 11 – Spiritual Experiences on the Sacred Mountain of Koyasan

We leave Kyoto and continue our journey to Koyasan, one of Japan’s most important religious and cultural centres. Nestled among the mountains, this sacred village radiates a unique sense of tranquillity, where nature and centuries-old Buddhist traditions exist in perfect harmony.

  • Upon arrival, we enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a guided walk in the afternoon through two of Koyasan’s most significant sites: the Garan temple complex and Kongobu-ji Temple. We discover the history of the centre of Shingon Buddhism, its magnificent architecture, and the peaceful atmosphere that makes this UNESCO World Heritage site truly unique.
  • One of the most extraordinary experiences of the day is our stay at a traditional shukubo, or temple lodging. As guests, we experience the serenity of a monastic environment, enjoy traditional Buddhist vegetarian cuisine, and gain a deeper connection to Japan’s centuries-old spiritual heritage.

We spend the evening immersed in Koyasan’s peaceful atmosphere, where ancient traditions and the tranquillity of nature come together to create a truly unique and timeless experience.

Day 12 – The Mystical Atmosphere of Koyasan and Farewell to Japan

We begin the day with a special early morning temple ceremony, offering us the opportunity to experience an authentic moment of Koyasan’s spiritual world. After the peaceful morning prayer, we enjoy breakfast at the temple lodging before saying farewell to this extraordinary place.

  • After checking out, accompanied by our local guide, we explore the fascinating world of Okunoin, the most sacred site in Koyasan and one of Japan’s largest cemeteries. The paths winding through thousands of cedar trees, ancient memorials, and the unique atmosphere provide a profound insight into Japan’s religious traditions and history.
  • Following the morning program, we have free time to explore Koyasan. We can stroll through the charming streets, visit additional temples, or simply enjoy the tranquillity of the mountain surroundings before continuing our journey.
  • In the afternoon, we travel by bus to our accommodation near Kansai International Airport, close to Osaka. After check-in, the rest of the day is dedicated to relaxation and free time, allowing us to comfortably prepare for our journey home.

This is our final evening in Japan, offering a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary experiences of the past days and to bring this unforgettable journey to a meaningful close.

Day 13 – Farewell to Japan and Departure Home

Cancellation Policy

  • 90 days before the start of the journey: 50% of the amount paid is refundable.
  • 60 days before departure: 30% of the amount paid is refundable.
  • Within 30 days of departure: the amount paid is non-refundable; however, the trip may be transferred to another person.
  • If the group does not depart, the amount paid will be refunded or can be transferred to another trip.
