Gender Equality Policy

No Planet B – Travel with B

Commitment

No Planet B – Travel with B is a women-founded, values-driven enterprise operating in the tourism and travel sector, with a strong focus on social and environmental sustainability. A core element of our mission is the economic, professional and personal empowerment of women, particularly in communities and destinations where women’s sovereignty, visibility and opportunities are limited.

Two of the company’s founders are mothers of multiple children, therefore a lived, experience-based understanding of caregiving responsibilities, work–life balance challenges and structural inequalities is an integral part of how we operate.

We are committed to gender equality, inclusivity, and non-discriminatory practices based on gender and sexual identity, both within our internal operations and across our travels, partnerships and local collaborations. No Planet B – Travel with B undertakes to build a business structure that actively supports gender equality and to foster an operational culture free from violence, stereotypes and exclusion.

In Hungary, gender equality continues to face significant structural challenges. The gender pay gap is among the highest in the European Union: women earn on average nearly 18% less than men, compared to an EU average of approximately 13%. Women’s participation in the labour market is also lower, largely due to the unequal distribution of caregiving responsibilities and traditional labour market roles.

Disparities are even more pronounced in decision-making and leadership: women represent only 11% of board members in Hungary’s largest companies, while women’s representation in parliament stands at just 14.1%, placing Hungary among the lowest-ranking EU countries. Women account for only 30.7% of professionals in engineering and research fields, again one of the lowest rates within the EU. According to the EIGE Gender Equality Index, Hungary scored 57.3 out of 100 in 2023, below the EU average, ranking particularly low in the “power” domain, where it has remained among the weakest performers since 2020.

These inequalities are further reinforced by the disproportionate burden women carry in everyday life: women devote 17.3% of their time to unpaid care and household work, compared to 8.1% for men, significantly limiting their professional and economic opportunities.

These structural disparities clearly demonstrate that women’s empowerment is not merely a matter of values, but a critical area of social and economic intervention. Accordingly, No Planet B – Travel with B has embedded this commitment into its business model: each journey includes a per-participant donation, incorporated into the travel price, supporting women-led organisations both in Hungary and in the destination country. Through this approach, we ensure that our travels generate tangible and measurable positive social impact on the lives of women at both local and international levels.

1. Equal Pay for Equal Work

In its operations and partnerships, No Planet B – Travel with B ensures that:

  • equal pay is provided for equal work and equal levels of responsibility,
  • fees and remuneration are determined based on transparent, professional criteria,
  • neither direct nor indirect gender-based pay discrimination is tolerated.

This principle also extends to our cooperation with local partners: during our travels, we do not negotiate prices; all partners receive fair, pre-agreed compensation, through direct collaboration without intermediaries.

2. Flexible Working Arrangements

Flexible work organisation is a core operational principle of No Travel B. This approach is designed to especially support:

  • mothers with young children,
  • women with caregiving responsibilities,
  • the preservation of mental and physical well-being.

Our practices include:

  • flexible working hours,
  • project-based collaborations,
  • location-independent (remote) work,
  • individual agreements adapted to personal life circumstances.

3. Gender Sensitisation and Training

No Planet B – Travel with B is committed to continuous learning and awareness-raising around gender equality and inclusion. As part of this commitment:

  • we have initiated cooperation with Queer Destinations, an internationally recognised organisation offering specialised training programmes for the tourism sector focused on gender equality, LGBTIQ+ inclusion and sensitisation,
  • our aim is to integrate these training and awareness-raising elements into the daily operations of all team members and collaborating partners,
  • the programme supports not only knowledge development but also the creation of a safe, inclusive and respectful organisational culture.

As a small organisation, trainings are typically implemented through:

  • internal knowledge-sharing,
  • workshops,
  • thematic discussions,
  • participation in external professional programmes and trainings.

4. Prevention of Sexual Harassment and the Creation of a Safe Environment

For No Planet B – Travel with B, preventing sexual harassment is not only an internal policy obligation, but also a fundamental objective of our travel experiences: to create safe, supportive and holding spaces for women, where participants can be present freely and without fear.

The company applies zero tolerance towards any form of sexual harassment, intimidation or abuse, including but not limited to:

  • verbal, non-verbal and physical harassment,
  • unwanted advances or remarks,
  • abuse of power or authority,
  • any behaviour that undermines women’s sense of safety.

Safe Female Spaces During Travels

A significant share of our journeys are organised specifically for women’s groups. Accordingly, we place particular emphasis on ensuring that:

  • group dynamics are supportive and inclusive,
  • participants can express themselves in a safe environment,
  • personal boundaries are respected at all times throughout the programme.

Trained Tour Leaders and Facilitators

No Planet B – Travel with B tour leaders and group facilitators receive dedicated preparation, particularly in the following areas:

  • equal opportunities and gender equality,
  • women’s empowerment and supportive facilitation,
  • trauma-informed approaches,
  • managing sensitive group situations.

This ensures that:

  • participants feel safe and supported,
  • facilitators are able to recognise and appropriately address sensitive situations,
  • immediate and responsible intervention is possible when required.

Incident Reporting and Response Procedure

In the event of any report related to harassment or situations that compromise a participant’s sense of safety:

  • all reports are taken seriously,
  • discreet and safe reporting channels are provided,
  • the protection of affected individuals is treated as a top priority,
  • where necessary, cooperation with the individual or partner concerned is terminated.

These principles apply throughout the entire duration of each journey, including locations, programmes and partner relationships.

5. Support for Parenthood and Care Responsibilities

No Planet B – Travel with B recognises that caregiving responsibilities disproportionately affect women. Accordingly:

  • we support flexible working arrangements for women with young children,
  • family-related considerations are taken into account when planning events and projects,
  • the founders’ lived experience ensures that these principles are implemented in practice rather than remaining theoretical commitments.

6. Gender-Neutral Recruitment

No Planet B – Travel with B:

  • uses gender-neutral language in recruitment processes,
  • focuses exclusively on professional competencies and values-based alignment,
  • does not discriminate based on gender, family status, motherhood or sexual orientation.

While operating as a women-empowering enterprise, we remain open to people of all genders and identities who share our values.

7. Gender-Neutral Career Progression

Opportunities for advancement and increased responsibility:

  • are based on performance, commitment and professional competencies,
  • are independent of gender roles or life circumstances,
  • actively support the strengthening of women in leadership roles within tourism.

8. Gender Equality During Travels

The principles of gender equality are not only internal guidelines but are actively applied throughout the implementation of our journeys:

  • we consciously visit and support women-led initiatives, women entrepreneurs and women’s communities,
  • our visits generate direct economic benefits for these actors,
  • collaborations are based on direct partnerships without intermediaries,
  • fair remuneration and mutual respect are fundamental principles.

For No Planet B – Travel with B, gender equality is not an administrative requirement, but a conscious value choice and an operational foundation.

We believe that tourism can be a powerful tool for social change — and that the empowerment of women and marginalised groups plays a key role in this transformation.
