PLAN B. B for Biodiversity

Day 1 – Arrival in Vienna, Hundertwasser-inspired lunch and guided tour at Kunst Haus

  • In the morning, we check in to our accommodation, where we are introduced to what makes this Viennese stay truly unique and why it is considered an ideal sustainable lodging option.

  • Hundertwasser-inspired lunch: A colorful, sustainable dining experience in the heart of Vienna, right next to the Hundertwasser House. Vegetarian and vegan dishes crafted from local, seasonal ingredients, served in an artistic atmosphere where gastronomy and eco-consciousness go hand in hand.

  • Afternoon: Guided tour of the Kunst Haus Wien – Art Meets Nature exhibition, accompanied by a lecture. This green museum, certified with the Austrian Eco-label, not only preserves Hundertwasser’s architectural heritage but also stands as a living example of sustainability. The Art Meets Nature exhibition showcases the relationship between nature and art through contemporary artists, reflecting on the climate crisis and ecological challenges in an inspiring, artistic way.

  • Evening: Free time with optional recommendations for sustainable restaurants and bars.

Day 2 – Art with Climate App, Social Lunch & Sustainable Fashion Walk

  • A generous breakfast made with local, organic ingredients – featuring fresh, seasonal delights and sustainably sourced products.
  • We set off by public transport to the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum of Fine Arts), where we experience something truly unique with the “Schnee von Gestern – Klima Walk” app. Climate, art, and catastrophes – artworks often portray the complex relationship between humans and nature: telling stories of biodiversity, destructive forces, and climate change. Through interactive tasks and thought-provoking questions, we explore these themes in the museum in a way that is not only informative but also immersive and inspiring.
  • Lunch at a truly special spot in Vienna, where homemade cakes and traditional meals are served with a heartwarming social mission. Here, retired grandmas and grandpas do the baking and serving – offering not only delicious food but also personal stories. The aim is to foster intergenerational dialogue while providing meaningful work, community, and appreciation for the elderly. Cozy atmosphere, timeless recipes, and real human connection – a meal that nourishes both body and soul.
  • Green Fashion Walk – Sustainable Fashion Tour of Vienna: This themed city walk highlights conscious consumption and sustainable fashion. Participants discover local eco-conscious brands and studios where ethical production methods, recycling, and circular design are central. Along the way, we hear directly from designers about the social and environmental impact of their work, while also learning about pressing challenges in the fashion industry – such as overproduction and textile waste. An inspiring example of how creativity, ethics, and innovation can come together to shape a more sustainable future.

  • Evening – Optional Dinner & Inspiring Encounter We end the day with an optional dinner at a sustainable restaurant, followed by a casual meet-up and toast at a zero-waste cocktail bar with Balázs Kovács, head of Vienna-based GD Consulting. Balázs is an internationally recognized expert in sustainability and tourism, a leading advocate of “new tourism” based on quality of life, and an official EU Climate Ambassador. The bar is fully committed to sustainability – offering minimal waste, upcycled interiors, plastic-free practices, and homemade syrups and creative drink pairings. An inspiring evening for anyone curious about the future of tourism.

Day 3 – Seestadt Walking Tour, Vienna’s Green Side on Two Wheels & Conscious Gastronomy

  • A generous breakfast made with local, organic ingredients – fresh, seasonal delights to start the day with energy and mindfulness.
  • Seestadt Aspern Discovery Walk: Explore one of Europe’s largest and greenest urban development projects – a climate-friendly district designed to welcome 20,000 residents by 2030. On this guided walk, we discover hands-on examples of sustainable city planning: community gardens, the world’s second tallest wooden skyscraper, Slim City, and the central lake as a recreational hub. A unique experience where innovative urban design meets storytelling – highlighting the inspiring women after whom many of Seestadt’s streets and squares are named.
  • Sustainable Bistro Lunch – Enjoy fresh dishes made with local, seasonal ingredients in a consciously operated bistro that celebrates mindful gastronomy.
  • Optional Green Bike Tour (€52/person, 3 hours, 25 km): Cycle through Vienna’s green side, starting from the city center and riding through the Prater, across the Reichsbrücke, and onto the Danube Island. The route takes us all the way to one of Central Europe’s last remaining intact floodplain meadows – a nature-rich area home to over 100 bird species, red deer, beavers, and foxes. Along the way, we also pass architectural highlights: Hundertwasser House, the Giant Ferris Wheel, UNO City, the DC Tower, the Danube Tower, and the striking new WU University campus designed by five internationally renowned architects. The pace is relaxed, with opportunities to stop for a refreshing drink or a short break on the Danube Island or in the Prater (weather permitting). This bike tour reveals a side of Vienna beyond the classic landmarks – greener, quieter, and more in tune with nature.
  • Evening – Free time with optional sustainable restaurant and bar recommendations.
